Older, well-travelled, mobiliy-impaired woman needs advice on planning a solo trip to Egypt, including a Nile cruise.
Requires a reaonably comfortable but not luxury trip.
Has anyone here done such a trip?
Suggestions on suitable tour companies, accommodation etc welcome.
Thank you!

With luck Rosalie will log on and help you. She uses a mobility scooter and travels all over the world with it. Her TravellersPoint name is GreatgrandmaR. You can find her blogs at https://www.travellerspoint.com/users/greatgrandmaR/

I don't know if she has any on Egypt or the Nile but I'm sure she can give you some helpful advice. In the meantime, perhaps some other TP members will log on with some assistance.

Thank you, I didn't know about her. I'll look further into her blog, it seems to be quite interesting.

I have not been to Egypt. If you want a Nile cruise, I would suggest AmaWaterways as an appropriate company for the trip. https://www.rivercruise.com/river_cruise.cfm?npid=109856&nhr=1

There are also cruises by Tauck and Avalon which I know are good companies. My sister uses TNauck a lot. I would avoid Viking.

Ama takes care of their passengers very well - you can have them meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. They have excursions for all ability levels - there are ones for slow walkers, and even sometimes ones for people who don't like to get up early. You can also do a pre or post-cruise extension. If you are traveling by yourself you will probably have to pay a single supplement.

If you are on Facebook, there is an Ama group (AmaWaterways Loyal Guests (Official) - where you can ask questions of people who have done this trip before and get information.

When you say mobility impaired, what does that mean? Now at 85, I am not able to travel by myself because I have to have someone to manage my scooter and pack and unpack for me. 15 years ago, I could take care of myself, and just needed a wheelchair in the airport and little help with luggage. This is part of the blog of my last trip in Nov 2022.
