I’m going to Barcelona next week and need advice on the metro. When I use the underground in London I can only use circle and district as most other lines are far to low underground. I don’t like feeling trapped and the massive escalators scare me - I have vertigo.

What is the metro like in Barcelona? Is it deep underground? Are there big escalators or is it more like circle and district where it’s just a bit below?

Thank you

Hello!! It's difficult to say as some lines are deeper than others or even some line have deeper stations or have a more "trappy" looking.
Usually from L1 to L5 are the oldest and the less deep ones. I'd avoid L9 and L10 as they are brewer and more deep, like 6 groups of stairs down.
L2 for example will take you to Sagrada Família and the city center and it's quite open for being underground

I hope that helps you :)
Enjoy Barcelona
