Hello there,

I have been living abroad for many years and moved back to France recently. I miss the international connection and I really appreciated the warm welcome I received abroad. If some of you are planning to visit France, I would be happy to help you with suggestions an maybe meet for a drink or something. I am 43 currently living Bretagne west of France but I have lived in many places in France. I am lecturing at the University if that's of interest. Feel free to contact me here or via email -snip-

Julien

Hi.

".....living abroad for many years and moved back to France recently....."

There may be some expat forums you can look up. Meet other foreigners living and maybe just visiting the "land of wine and cheese." Google up "expat forums France" and you might get lucky.

Good luck.

France is on my bucket list, but I'm still trying to save up to go there someday.

Welcome to the site Julien. Always nice to have someone wanting to "pay it forward" for other travellers. If you like, you can sign up as a Travel Helper for France. If you do that, you'll be notified when someone is asking about it and they can get in touch with you directly for advice.

We spent a month in Bretagne last year and would have loved to take you out for a coffee. We stayed out in the country near Canihuel. If you are in that area, there is a marvelous little restaurant called Auberge Le Pélinec. It sits on a small lake and is a delight. They also support their local artists which we appreciate.

We won't be in the area this year as we are spending our month in Paris to celebrate our 60th anniversary. We do every 5th year in Paris. The Olympics almost deterred us but fortunately they don't start until July 26th. We'll be long gone by then.

Do take Peter's advice and sign up as a Travel Helper for France.

Yes, I'm thinking about visiting France, but before I do, could you share your experiences with France that you've had so far?

Hi. I wrote a blog about my very first trip to France and it might help you. It was long ago but some things never change. You can find it on TP here: https://beausoleil.travellerspoint.com/

If you have specific questions, please ask. We've traveled all over France for nearly 30 years so have learned from a lot of mistakes.
