Hi

All swiss cities of a minimum size are well connected by train. So, you may make base in Zurich, Geneve, Bern or even Lucern depending on which city is more attractive for you.

I travelled by train from Bern to Interlaken and Lucern and the landscape was fantastic.

I think 1 week can be a reasonable amount of time to visit Switzerland (of course, one may spend a month there and there will be interesting things to do and see!).

Best regards
