Hi
I'm planning to stay in Barcelona for 6 months and am thinking of enrolling in a Spanish school. Does anyone have any experience of this and could possibly recommend a school? TIA

Are you living in the EU? Because otherwise you cannot stay for 6 month without a visa.

Are you there for some kind of employment where you NEED to be proficient in Spanish? Or, are you just doing tourist type stuff?

I found it quite easy to get around Spain. I like Barcelona and found the city easy to do without a great proficiency in Spanish. They are used to lots of foreigners visiting.

It is always helpful to know how to say hello, thank you, perhaps some numbers and how to order a beer. You can look this up for free. In my country libraries often have basic language videos you can check out for free.

Knowing how to say hello and thank you goes a long way in any country you visit.

Up to you.

It's not for employment reasons, no. If i'm there i figure i might as well learn the language and possibly meet other people whilst doing so.

I used the EF program for Spanish in Barcelona as well as French in Nice and I was very pleased with it, although Barcelona was more than twenty years ago. I think the schools are still going strong though. I think it's a great idea to learn to speak real Spanish rather than just try to get by with a couple of phrases. Spanish has served me extremely well traveling in Latin America and of course Spain. If you have any experience with other Romance languages Spanish will be quite easy to pick up.

Hey Jon. Why a Spanish school? When I was learning Spanish I just used an app...read some children's books. Got me where I needed to go!

I kind of want to learn from the Spanish themselves. Also it would be good to meet like minded people who are on the same level as me.
