I had a holiday booked for Sri Lanka in june and we ran out of time to get a visa before- hoping to get one on arrival- our travel agent said we couldn’t go, we cancelled and lost everything but I now find out you can still get one on arrival? Does anyone know more? Please help!
Sri Lanka visa
You don't give your citizenship, always important in visa questions.
Since April this year Sri Lanka has required all tourist (and business) visitors to use the eVisa system. Official info sites:

Airlines must ensure that passengers are eligible for entry at the country of arrival. An airline can face substantial fines if they carry passengers without the appropriate documents. Airlines can check passenger evisas (e.g. Esta for US entry, eTA for Canadian entry) as well as physical visas in passports.
I would expect responsible travel agents to advise clients about entry requirements and how long it takes to access/process an eVisa or visa before they booked & paid for a holiday?

Not according to the Sri Lankan Dept of Immigration website which says
With effect from 17th April 2024, all Tourist or Business travelers to Sri Lanka must have e-Visa for entering in to Sri Lanka.

Your friend is not a good enough source when your government website says differently!
