Going to Madrid for a week at the end of July. What should I look at? Any suggestions?

There is so much you can do in Madrid but a you should be able to do quite a lot in a week. It's going to be very busy in July but in August you might find that some restaurants and shops are closed as lots of locals go on holiday. If you like art, two must-sees are the Museo del Prado, a massive art gallery, and Museo Thyssen Bornemisza.
I'd defintely recommend going to the Moorish quarter as well, one of the oldest districts. In the summer there are open air music and theatre performances.
If Madrid gets a bit much, head out to the hills of the Sierra de Guaddarrama (I don't think that's spelt right) as it's really peaceful and good for walking. Anyway, hope that helps

theres loads of things you can do,

my favourites were;

- the bernabeu tour
- watching the artists in the old square at puerto del sol
- the flea market at los santos (sunday mornings)
- the tour bus rides
- best place to eat, TGI Fridays(next to the bernabeu)!!!

ive heard theres some of the best art museums aswell, but i dont like that kinda stuff. Also the zoo is supposed to be good.

u'll have a great time!

Museums: Both Museo del Prado and the Thyssen are great, but there is a third one, which not everybody visits and which is absolutely gret (where the famous GERNIKA of Picasso is), the Reina Sofia Art Centre (near Atocha train station).

The "musts": Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor (where the Town Hall is), Retiro Park (nice walk), Puerta de Alcal√° (just outside one of the corner's of Retiro Park), Palacio Real (used to be the hometown of the King and Queen centuries ago), Opera near Puerta del Sol.

Other things: On Sundays ther is a market called "Rastro", you will find anything: cloths, shoes, furniture,.... In the Lavapiés-Latina district (between Atocha and the Centre).

Food, drink, great nightlife, shooping, walking around.........
