Are our lives already mapped out for us, or do we create our own destiny?
Do you think people meet each other in life for a reason, or is it just by chance?
Do incidences happen because they are supposed to, or are they just co-incidences?

I believe we are all here for a reason and certain things happen for a reason. Everything is prewritten
The question is: Is everything the result of Chance in this world, or are our lives - whether we are enjoying or suffering, the results of previous actions/life?

too many questions
what's your opinion?
I sometimes think - Are we independently making choices in our lives, or are those choices we make(which we think are making independently!)part of fate?!
In my life I work hard at want I want to achieve, like I am learning to speak italian.Does that mean my destiny is to live in Italy? I want to do it,but will it be outside of my control because of fate,or is it all a matter of luck and being in the right place at the right time?
Also I think of the people I have met on my travels....I sometimes wonder if I was meant to meet them so I would learn something about life...(I try and use all the encounters I have had with people in a positive way).
let someone else work it out for you

Aha, the old "determinism versus free will" question. I'd like to think that we're in controle and creat our own lives. Otherwise what's the point in trying in life if your life is mapped out from the very beginning, and no matter what you do the results are the same? I think that it's easier sometimes to think in terms of "destiny", because it puts order into what is seemingly random, somehow gives life some type of purpose (I also think that it's the motivation behind religion, but that's another topic). Determinism also makes life seem more romantic. For instance, when you meet someone special - "ahh, it's fate that we have met"; when you break up with your boyfriend - "Oh, it just wasn't MEANT to be..." It's what hollywood movies thrive on.
I can honestly say that it depends on my mood. When things are going well, I say it was fate, meant to be, etc, etc. LOL, I guess I don't give myself enough credit if I'm in a happy place. If things aren't going well, I get hard on myself and push myself to fix them and fate isn't even a thought that crosses my mind.
I guess if I had to pick one, I would say that we make our own destiny, just because even when I'm in my elated "it was meant to be" state, I still have a voice in the back of my head saying "don't slack now, because things won't stay this way for long if you don't pay attention to them!"
As far as relaionships go, what Viv (Mtlgal) said hits the nail on the head...when I meet someone I feel as if it was written out in the stars, but if we break up, I'm very much the "he wasn't the one type." Although I'm leaning more to the Mr. Right-Now school of thought as opposed to the Mr. Right one. I think one person can be your Mr. Right-Now for the long-haul, because two people can change together as opposed to going in different directions, but I think the idea of The One is a little suspect.
I think it is to hard to say one way or another.
Trying to pin-point our existance is an endless journey. Instead I would consider more important to live right "now". There is no past or future, no destiny fate or chaos. Only right now.
i believe that you will run into the same type of people, because we are attracted to certain types anyway, and hate certain types. so thus we meet the same person over and over again.
we create our own destines... mapped out by certain circumstances.
