We are headed for Ireland in August and plan to spend 2-3 nights somewhere around Cork and/or Killarney (or some other location if you have a great alternative). Looking for recommendations on B&B's that are well situated for day trips to see city/culture sights as well as more rural spots for hiking and stunning photography. We will have rental car. Thanks for any help!

If you haven't already, you may also want to consider a few days in Kinsale, just south of Cork. It's a great town (albeit somewhat crowded) with easy access to just about everything you're looking for. It was one of the best places we went while we were in Ireland in May. I can highly recommended the Old Presbytery if you're looking for a place to stay.

You might want to try the Jurys Inn (theres 2), right in the centre on the river, i stopped there a few months ago, it is probably slightly more expensive than a B&B but if you are travelling with someone then you will get a twin room at a good rate. And their rooms are very clean and comfy. If not i meet some girls from OZ and they were stopping in hostels there, so you could also check on for cork.

ps dont forget to kiss the blarney Stone!

I'm not sure about the best b&b's in that area as I normally stay with friends but to get an idea of average costs and maps of where the bnb's are with regard to the sites you want to see you could check out -
