hello all

i am currently in Copacabana in Bolivia. I was wondering if anyone could advise me as to how i could manage to volunteer either here in Bolivia, Argentina or Southern Brazil.

Ideally i would look to work with children, perhaps orphans or help to support a local community. I was looking to voluntter for 2 - 3 weeks but do not have a lot of time to sort it all out.

Can anybody suggest an organisation i could simply walk into or phone up and sort out some volunteer work? I would not be looking to pay great sums of money to a big organisation, but of course would pay for my accomodation, food etc.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Marty

Hi there

Few organizations accept volunteers for such a short period. It will cost them more time to teach you what to do, than the actual tasks you will perform for them. The places that will accept can be a fun experience, but will be more a tourist-venue than a real volunteer project...

In Montero-Bolivia you can show up at the orphanage of the Madres Salesianas, or try the oncological hospital in Santa Cruz-Bolivia. Near Villa Tunari/Cochabamba there seems to be a very famous animal-recovery project that attracts crowds of backpackers.

Have fun anyways...
