Hi June! :)

I've got very limited one-time experience in buying train tickets
in China, but here it is:

In principle it's easy to buy tickets. Shanghai main railway
station has at least one ticket counter that offers some
kind of English service (but in our case it was quite limited).

But the thing is that there was not a word of English
anywhere in the ticket office area. Everything
on the boards was written in Chinese. But not to worry,
when you go to the waiting area, there you'll find also
English text.

So in Shanghai it was easy, but in Suzhou not so much, since
we found no English speaking service (or text) at the station when
buying tickets. But we got back to Shanghai, and that's all that counts. :)

So buying tickets is rather easy, but you might bumb into a language
barrier - unless you speak Chinese.
But we had such a great time! Met some really nice Chinese people
on the train.

Have fun!
