Athens is really great this time of year for a few reasons (these could be seen as negative or positive, but they are positives for me!). First of all, the shopping is great right now because they have a sale at the same time every year. Second, the Greek people all leave and the city is actually less crowded then you would expect. Plus, Athens is an amazing city - and for anyone who has not been there recently and seen the changes since the Olympic Games - you will be pleasently surprised.

There is one island just outside Athens that is completely worth visiting and less-known. It's called Spetses. It is affordable (I think the boat was around 30euros return with student ID, and I was just there last year) the night life is great, people are friendly. You will find there are a lot of local greeks there. There are no cars allowed and it adds a certain charm, as there are only moped, a few taxis and some horse-drawn carriages. Did I mention several amazing beaches? It's paradise! Hydra (which was mentioned above) is great too, but can be seen in a day. I would spent at least two nights in Spetses.

As for France, I went to Paris, and the South of France...although there are several beautiful places scattered all around France! If you are staying in South France, a great location is Nice. You can take the train to Monaco, or the close cities of Antibes and Cannes. It's spectacular. Shouldn't miss it!

Good luck, hope that helped.

I'm sorry, there is one other place I completely forgot to mention. This sight will blow your mind away, and again it is not very well known. In fact, you need a car to get there probably but it is SO worth it. Near the village called Kalithea, at the base of Mount Olympus, there is a monastary called the Monastary of Meteora. It is literally several monastaries that seem to rise from high cliffs. I can't quite describe it. Look it up and find some pictures, you will see what I mean. Totally worth it!

I would defenitly go to italy. We had a great time in Rome, lots of bars and other travellers. We also did a pub crawl that was well worth the 10 euros. Cinque Terra is a must if your coming from the south of france. It is a group of five villages along the coast of Italy. Great beaches and you can hike from village to village alond the cliffs on the coast. It was one of my favorite spots.

I'm just coming to the end of my Greece, Italy and France trip and I would really just did the big places. Athens, Rome, Pisa, Florence, Venice in Greece and Italy but in France I went to a few little places. I would really recommend Carcassonne. I stayed there for 3 nights at the youth hostel and it was amazing!! Don't go to Angouleme. I went there and almost died of boredom (no offence intended to anyone..)
