We have a flight booked on Dec 24 from Santiago - Easter Island, but now we found out we're in El Calafate until Thurs, Dec 22. Any ideas on how to get to Santiago in time for our 9:30am Dec 24 flight would be great!

So far we're thinking of:
Flying from El Calafate - Bariloche on Thursday, Dec 22 with LADE air. The website is a little confusing and not sure if there's more then 1 day/week for the flight?

Looks like there's a bus from Bariloche - Osorno, but not sure how frequent or what times it departs/arrives? Then another bus from there to Santiago, again not sure on the frequency and times?

Bus travel within Chile is quite convinient, I am sure there are buses from osorno to Santiago all day. From Osorno the best might be to catch an overnight bus.

Tur Bus one of the chilean bus lines has toll free (within chile) phone number : 600 660 660 0

Dear Dan :

From Bariloche to Osorno there are a lot of buses(about 3 companies), and they usually departs from 7:15 am , now in xmas season the frenquency is even higher, so it would be a good Alternative , they usually take 5 to 7 hours to cross from Bariloche to Osorno. Now I would reccommend to keep going till Puerto Montt, and then catch a plane to Santiago, in 1 hour 45 minutes , you are in Santiago.why Puerto Montt and not Osorno?
because the frecuency is much higher.

I hope it works for you , good luck and a good trip

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm needing to know the times/frequency of the buses before I reach South America so I can adjust our days elsewhere if needed.

Looks like getting to Osorno won't be a problem, but not sure about the bus from there to Santiago. I'd like to see when the nightbus arrives in Santiago. I'll also check out going to Puerto Montt. I think the flight may be too pricey though.
