Hows it goin guys?

I've found NZ a bit more expensive than I thought so i've applied for a working holiday Visa for when I get to Oz on Saturday (10th September). I applied over the net directly to the Australian immigration website on the 30th August but haven't heard anything from them. I thought most email applications were dealt with within 48 hours.

I'm finding it difficult to get hold of anyone now as I am in NZ and not the UK. I don't want to go home early so I've gotta get this sorted before I get to Oz or I will be skint :(.

Has anyone had any similar problems contacting the Aussie embassy to check on the progress of an application?

Or has anyone used one of those sites that offer to it all for you in 48 hours?

Does anyone know of any contact numbers/email addresses that I can use to contact the Australian High Commission/Embassy from New Zealand?

Any help would be fantastic.

Cheers guys ;)

Hi Welshman!

I applied on the 18th of August and unfortunately only received the grant of the visa on Friday (02/09). So it can take some time at the moment. However if your application is straightforward then you should get your visa quicker than me. I had to declare time in the Army for which they contacted me asking for more details, this delayed the process by a few days.

I never contacted the embassey so sorry I can't give you any contact details.

Good luck fella

Hi Welshman,

Normally you'd get a reference number reasonably quickly........but clearly not. Could be a simple mistake like an email address.

Try this number: its an immigration processing centre in Hobart where they process work related stuff. From NZ dial + 61 3 6220 5310. Make sure you have your application date and passport handy.

The local Auckland number for the Oz Consulate is 9 921 8800

Good luck Welshman

I got my WHV in 24 hrs through, a fellow had it delayed for 3 weeks through same company for no particular reason! I guess the oz embassiy get slow in the busy season.

I am in the same kinda boat that welshman is in. I can't apply for my workin holiday visa until i'm 18 on Nov. 17. But the flight I want and partially booked is Nov. 29. I have no medical conditions and have never been in the army and I don't think I have any reason for a delayed responce. I just read over the last link (visafirst) and found it to be very intising. It all sounds very good as they promise my visa within 2 days...Alpierce, there must have been some reason your friend did not get his until 3 weeks later...If anyone could help me out on this site, or a faster site, or if just going through the government site is the fastest it would really help. Thanks alot

Cheers for the advice guys - I'm glad to say that the Visa came through the day before we left for Oz - phew! Got an email just in time to say my application had been accepted.

I'm in Melburne now looking for work so all's good. :)

I would advise one and all to get their visa direct through the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Multicultural and Indigenous Affairs website as it is far cheaper.

I did this last week. Filled out a quick online form and paid £75. My application was approved less than 24 hours later. Had I bought it through VisaFirst it would've cost me £115.

Why pay others to fill out the forms for you?? Save the money for your travels!
