Hi everyone,

I have the enviable position of having 6 to 8 weeks vacation that I must take before the year is over or else i will lose it!!!!

So I am looking for advice. Where is a good place/region to go during the above months. I am a 30 year old guy who will be traveling alone and would like to go to somewhere different, fun, unique, and can meet other travelers. I have already done the Europe thing on the solo creep a few times visting Scotland (all over), England (London), Spain (Palma, Barcelona, France (Nice, Paris), Switzerland (Interlakken-my favourite place, Bern), Italy (Rome, Napoli, Sarento), Germany (Berlin), Holland (Amsterdam), Monaco. So what do you recomend? Kinda been tossing teh idea of Thailiand around. Your advice is extremely appreciated.

How terrible Arik, you have to go on holiday.. lucky you

The world is your oyster.. why not try New Zealand we are currently in our Spring and it has got off to a very nice start, warm sunny days & the nights are not too cool.
Plenty to see & do here
8 weeks would do you nicely, unless you don't want to leave of course

I suggest you to go to east Asia. your not only going to a different country, your going to a different world! The food, the culture and so on will be complately different to what you see in your daily life. In the big cities it will be hard to find what you want. So you can stay in the cities and plan day trips to the surroundings.

Three countries that I suggest: China, Japan and Korea.

The cities that I suggest: (in order)
Tokyo, Seoul, Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei

important notice:

Never go to the Yasukuni Jinja (靖國神社 a Japanese temple) in Tokyo because it is a place where the 2nd world war criminals are offered.

The Japanese Prime Minister, Junichiro Koizumi finds alot of excuse for going to Yasukuni Jinja and made the victim nations people very angry.

You must go to the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall in Nanjing (near Shanghai) because you will know why the chinese hated the Japanese.

300,000 people died only in the masscare because two Japanese soldiers where playing a game to see who will kill the most people. This massacre is not well known by the westerns so you must know more about the history.

How about Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam. So much to see and do and you can do it on the cheap too. Great beaches, great trekking, great food, some wonderful sites, etc etc. 6 - 8 weeks i am sure you could manage to fit all 5 of these places in starting in Thailand and working your way around.
