I'm planning such a trip on Spring or Autumn, 2006. Now we are two - my friend and me, we plan to go by my car. The trip should last up to 5 weeks. Does anybody want to join us?
Vladimir.

we plan to go by my car.

Are you going with your........Lada?

Do you need a carnet de passage for those countries?

Don't you believe in Lada? And how did you get know that my car is Lada? 1.5 years ago me and my friend travelled to the very South of Iran by my 16 years old Lada. Now I have much younger Lada. Do you want to join us in the trip to India?

We travelled to Iran without Carnet De Passage. In the future trip I'll get it because I afraid that in some border it would be necessary. It is a problem to get CDP for Russian citizen because in Russia no organization issues CDP.

Its only lada in Russia....like its only paykan in Iran that's why I knew. No.....Lada is a pretty good car. But you know its quite hard for such cars I guess (the same with other passenger cars)to survive bumpy roads in pakistan/India/Nepal, have you made any adjustments to it? Really believe me I would join you Russians if I could, its just a damn wild idea. Remember no wodka in Iran.......

Where in Russia do you start? From which state are you? Ukraine?

Did you drive till Bandar-Abbas in south-Iran?

Its quite a risk for you, isn't it!!! If you get the CDP it it will cost you a fortune. If your car has failed somewhere in the middle of nowhere you are fucked. I guess its part of the adventure.

I thought about it once (to drive from Europe to India). The CDP was my biggest pain in the ass. 5.000 euro is a big risk, you know!!! So I gave up:(

You are not right. Now there are about 50% of cars is Lada. As well as Paykan is not the only car in Iran.
I don't afraid of bumpy roads because some roads in Russia are horrible and Lada was designed for such a roads and no adjustment is needed.
We start from St. Petersburg.
Yes, we reached Bandar-Abbas and even further Jask.
Look at here www.palermo.ru/vladimir/iran Text is in Rusian, but you could see photos (find links at the bottom and look at ULSs under them - they are understandable)
