Hi everyone,

I am Ali in California, USA. I saw there was already an Ali posting so I added a number to mine to lessen the confusion! :) Cheers!

My last backpacking trip was 3 months through Europe. I started in the UK, hit France, Switzerland, Italy, Grrece, Austria & Germany. I travelled solo (if you can call rooming with 20 of your closest strangers -solo) and had the time of my life. I'll try and write more later in my travelogues to help others out.

My next trip will be a RTW for 6 months to a year. I am just starting to research it and will be keeping my eye open for some advice from this site!

I've been having troouble posting here so I'll send this off for now and see if it works. Talk to you all soon! Happy trails....Ali

Howdy folks

My name is Paul
im 27 and from the UK. I am off to India in march kicking off with a cheap holiday deal to goa. So chilling out by the sea before the horrible-ness of hole in the floor toilets etc.

But hey it wouldnt be fun if it was easy right.

I finish my job in solicitors office as skivy end of Feb which nearly drove me to the edge of insanity. And then bosh! im out of here with me mate.
Anyway after india going to Nepal to stay with some friends and then through tibet to Bejing jump on to the trans siberian express and then fly back from Russia. well thats the idea anyway, but anything can happen.
Back in time for University in September.

Hi, I'm Louise (if you hadn't guessed) from UK, and I'm currently in Thailand on my way round the world! Been here for a couple of weeks now, and have another couple left! In Chang Mai at the mo, but have to be back in Bangkok to head to Oz next (mid Feb) .....meant to be away for 6 months total, but already thinking I'd like it to be longer!

Hello all, I'm Paddy, 25yo m from London, England.

I'm new to all this travelling stuff as I did the whole study then career thing. Got myself into a stressful job, woke up in hospital after an asthma attack and changed my whole outlook on life.

I'm going to Oz for a year on my todd, leaving late April. I've pee'd quite a few people off by deciding to do this, including a now ex girlfriend and father who is threatening to cut me out his will.

Any advice all you hardened movers have for a virgin traveller who's more used to "all inclusives", would be greatly appreciated.

Paddy, all I have to say is I think you have made the right choice! My advice: Expect nothing and it will turn out you get everything! But hey, who am I... someone else (Kent Newburn) once said it like this:

"We need to travel. If we don't offer ourselves to the unknown, our senses dull. Our world becomes small and we lose our sense of wonder. Out eyes don't lift to the horizon. Our ears don't hear the sounds around us. The edge is off our experience & we pass our days in a routine that is both comfortable and limiting. We wake up one day and find we have lost our dreams in order to protect our days. Don't let yourself become one of these people!"

You will have a great time in Oz.... don't know anyone who didn't :)

Hello I am Loes (also known as Lucy, Louise or Luz), from the Netherlands, living in Amersfoort. I am 25 and I've lived in Spain for 1,5 years. I did quite a lot of travelling there and I also spent some summer holidays in this beautiful country, so if you want to know anything, just let me know.
I also spent half a year in Sweden, in a town called Karlstad (just by the Vänern-lake).
Although I love being abroad, at the moment I am back at my home base again, doing only some travelling for work and fun. If anybody has got questions on preparing for a longer stay in a country, or if you want to know about the more beautiful and less busy places in Spain, I keep myself recommended.
Hope to hear from you all,
