Hi
Can anyone recommend a decent place to stay in Bangkok? Myself and a friend are travelling and will be heading back to Bankgkok in a couple of weeks. We have spent 3 nights there already but the 1st 2 we paid more for a nice hotel and the 3rd we were in a room that resembled a prison cell!
We're looking for somewhere quite near Khoa San rd.
Well be flying back from Ho Chi Minh on Monday 17th so if anyone is about and fancies catching up let us know!
Thanks
Leanne

generally you get what you payed for - just walk around. The further from the Khaosan Rd the better.
see Phra athit guest houses - by the river

We stayed a couple of streets away from Koh San - close enough to the action without excessive amounts of people/noise! There is a temple that is at the end of Koh San and the streets that surround it have some great guesthouses like the Bella Bella, My House, Merry V, Green House.... We even found the food/drink, market stalls (esp the ones in the temple area!) cheaper. My House have great tours that you can book and there are heaps of otehr little travel agents to book in for cheap transportation to the airport instead of paying for a taxi.

The Bangkok Youth Hostel on Phitsanulok Rd in Teh Wed is cheap and fairly clean. With a YHA card the dorms are 90 baht a night and the staff are friendly - they are mainly volunteers keen to practice their English.

The Christian Guest house is nice, and located right of the main drag. It runs from about 80-100 bhat if I remember.
