About 10 friends and I are travelling to the Bahamas tweleve days from now. We are taking a cruise ship and we will be going to port at Freeport and then two days in Nassau.

We are looking to do things cheaply, and we want to avoid being ripped off by touristy attractions as much as possible. But there are things we want to do that I'm skeptical of booking through the cruise.

We want to swim with dolphins and snorkel. My question is, does anyone know if we can book these excursions once we get to the islands or are they in such high demand that we have to suck it up and book it now? From what I have found on my own, swimming with dolphins seems like it will be at least $80. Does that seem right or is that just the tour operators that have websites?

Any advice will be very appreciated!!!

Try this link for the dolphins:

For more links to excursions and attractions (and their own websites):
Things to do in the Bahamas

If you scroll down - there are links to the specific excursion's website. Those should give you helpful booking information.

Just don't book with the cruise ship, they will make you overpay. If you feel more comfortable you can but in advance with a group BUT otherwise there will be local ppl who meet the cruise ship and will take you out on their boat. ESPECIALLY for simple stuff like snorkeling, and I would def. think for the dolpin swim too. This has worked out well (and cheap) for me in the past.
