I'm planning to spend this New Year in NYC. The city was pretty cool when I went last August. I'm excited to see the city in the cold winter. It's definitely worth the trip.

How far have you planned for the trip ?

I'll be in NYC from Dec 29th 'till Jan 3rd. It'd be fun to have a New Year TP party.

Well, I travel to the New York area about every other Christmas and have done so for the past 15 years (I'll be there this year from Dec 22 to 29th). It's a really busy tourist season for New York, so the city is crowded--but really decked out for the holidays and lots of fun. Even though it's very cold, most people will be busy doing their Christmas shopping (or returns), or visiting the standard sites (Central Park, Statue of Liberty, Rockefeller Square, Times Square, Radio City Music Hall, broadway plays, etc.). I always take the ferry into town from the New Jersey side and then take the subways and buses just to get a feel for being in the crowds and the major christmas spirit. But if you don't like crowds (and I mean really crowded) or can't stand lines it's not for you. Also, all the restaurants and bars fill up quickly--so arrive early to get your place and escape the winter blasts.

Hey All.

New Yrs in NYC can be tricky.. First.. of you decide to do teh whole Times Square thing.. I would get their really early. as early as 12 Noon to get a decent spot.

If not.. You guys can all pay a cover to a club or bar ( its a bit pricey.. from $150-$300 USD).. Its open bar.. You can drink as much as you want, etc.

Yes, it is very cold. NYC is like a wind tunnel, so please dress accordingly.

TP New Yrs sounds like an excellent idea..

I hope you enjoy NYC.. Its the closest this country has, to compare to all the other great cities in the world.

Write be if you need any more NYC tips.
