Hello there,

I'm new to this great forum as I only recently came upon afer searching for information on RTW trips.

I've finally decided that i'm going to do it (much to the disgust of my girlfriend) at the end of Feb. I've been to both Trailfinders and STA Travel and found STA alot more helpful and a bit cheaper.

The itinary that we hope to book this week is as follows

London - Johannesburgh
Capetown - Sinagpore
S'Pore - Sydney
Sydney - Auckland
Auckland - Fiji
Fiji- La
Las Vegas - New York

The flights cost 1370 but we have to pay 300 or so in insurance. Is that the norm ? Can't wait to book it.

Also what kind of jabs will I need and how much ?

Go to Travel Insurance at left hand of this page or try links, tools at top of this page for cheaper travel 12 months cover but telephone up and make sure it is 12months cover not annual multi cover.
I think you should goto India which is one of the greatest travel experiences of any trip and a must if you are doing a RTW.
Your next stop after Singapore should be Bangkok as you will travel Asia by bus and finally jump a plane from Bangkok.
(Or the next stop after Delhi would be Bangkok then Sydney(Cheaper) but its your trip)
Can you not fit in South America and Central America and Cancun,Mexico on your travels as you would start at one end and bus up to the other end and have a journey to remember for ever.
Jabs!!!I would advise you make an appointment with your doctor ASP and let him tell you what you need and get them stright away as you really need them upto 1-3months before you go,they should'nt cost you anything.
Your not going to leave that poor girl behind, thats disgusting!!!!!!
Whatever way you go have a great trip and enjoy your travels.

Hi Jackboy thanks for the response, appreciated..

Firstly on the Bangkok note, we are flying into Singapore then travelling up to Bangkok (taking in some islands on the way up)on overland. Should be a great experience and cheapish hopefully.

Secondly you mention India. Personally I'd love to go to India and ahs seriously thought about going as it is sort of on the way from South Africa to Singapore. Maybe I could cut out the Fiji part of my trip to save those airmiles and pay for it out of my own pocket when I get to aussie.

Thirdly, as for Southern America, been there done it worn the t-shirt

On a side note, any other Irish going on a RTW trip ?

Hi Koalabear
You Women get everywhere and I was trying to set Ryan up!!!!!!!!
Check links, tools, destinations at top of this page or do a google India visa.
You can download India visa from Internet or Apply for paperwork ASP from India embassey, fill it in and send your passport off ASP.
Their multi visa is for 6 months and you tell them when you want it to start and you cant enter before your nomanated start date.
Your visa for Nepal you can get in India at Nepal border.
Visa for China you can get in Vietnam or somewhere out their and Koalabear is buying the first round when we meet in???????????
Have a great trip and enjoy your travels.

Hi Ryan,

Looks like a great trip! 300 is quite good for insurance - who are you taking it out with? (Still have to get mine sorted )

If you are just going to those places on your list, then you probably wont need to get very many jabs, but if you are branching out and visiting other places, then you may need more.

Check out this site to see what you need. They have offices in Dublin, Limerick, Shannon, Galway and Cork (I think). I think the prices for each vaccine are listed there too.

Hope that helps. ;)
