Check out the Landmark Hotel on Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok. It's on the Skytrain (overhead rapid transit train) route. Take the Skytrain to the subway at Asok, the subway takes you to the main train station. Shopping areas and restaurants nearby. Google Landmark Hotel for more info.

Grande Majestic on Soi 2 Sukhumvit is an excellent choice.
prices start at about 2600 baht.. Have stayed there several times.
You'd Pay a fortune for rooms like that in Australia, or god forbid, London.
Only new, great gym area, sauna and spa and pool. Good restauarnts.
Free buffet Breakfast.
close to Sky train and less than 10 minutes from train.
