Good question - I was going to ask it myself. Have heard conflicting opinions about both and I'm now rather confused!

If you're travelling solo and have a bit of extra money then Oz Experience is a good option.
But if you're travelling with others and on a tight budget then maybe go with Greyhound.

I'd recommend that when you get to Australia go to a backpacker travel agent and get some information on both. That way you can make the decision that's right for you.

Ditto to the previous comments. When I was down there I just used the Greyhound buses, which you should keep in mind are pretty much just backpacker buses anyway. The difference; Oz Experience has more of "group" feel, which could be nice depending on your perspective and the type of person you are. I can tell you that you won't be the only young English person on board. They also make some stops that you wouldn't necessarily make if you were just on the Greyhound. That said, I more-or-less travelled with a group of Oz Experience people for a good chunk of my time down there, I just kept bumping into them at all of the usual backpacker stopovers. I know they were all quite happy with their experience, but I was equally as happy to have the freedom to go my own way without having to follow a group.

I went greyhound - it was adequate and cheap and there was plenty of freedom to do what I wanted - I like to be able to travel independently and be able to duck off the backpacker trail a bit anyway. It was easy to meet people in hostels everywhere anyway. I did meet people who were doing/did the Oz experience thing and enjoyed it, but it is a much more boozy thing than I really wanted - but if you want to party all the time and want a structured trip it might be your thing.
