i'm thinking of exploring northern India for 4 weeks from early December. Anything there that is not to be missed????

Is it more difficult to travel around after the recent earthquake, the information i have seen says that only parts of Kashmir were affected in India - anyone know if this is true??

Go to Simla - beautiful scenary, but its cold there..mountains and snow. Taj Mahal. I would ask some locals about Kashmir because I have family in Punjab and even they do not go there since there has been unrest in the past.

Here are some of the places you should not miss while in North India:

1) Delhi
2) Agra
3) Jaipur
4) Jaisalmer
5) Manali and neighboring towns
6) Dharmshala

Do not limit your travel to these places but certainly don't miss any of them. Hope this helps.

Much depends on what your interests are. Northern India has lot to offere adventure tours, historical monuments, hills and wildlife.

You can start with
Delhi - Jaipur-(Ranthambore)- Udaipur-Jodhpur - Jaisalmer- Bikaner- Jaipur-Agra

Delhi-Hardwar-Rishikesh and then up to the hills take you to many Indian religions places.

Then on north to the Himalayas: Manali, Ladakh, Srinagar, and may be Dharamshala. Kausani is another beautiful place, I love.

I think flights to Srinagar are not interrupted and tourism is doing fine there.
