Hello members. I am planning a trip to Mauritius. Any advice on how to spend my time there would be appreciated. I will be there for about 4 nights. Thank you in advance.

Hello there

I lived in Mauritius for a while so would be glad to help you with some info! Grand Baie in the North of the island is a great place to stay. There are plenty of hotels and some self catering places which are better if you are on a budget. It is very easy to get around - busses are cheap and frequent. I would recommend spending a day at Il Aux Cerfs which is a lovely island off the east coast. If you're into shopping you could check out the market in Port Louis or Qatre Bornes for some good bargains!

Let me know if you need more specific information!

Cheers Tonya

Ah Mauritius. This is my parents native country, so i have been there quite a few times, on long stays too, so i familiarised myself with the area! Grand Baie is a great beach and you must go to Ile Aux Cerfs, there are many activities over there and it is much fun. Its a very small island too, so it won't take too long to go and scoot around the whole thing and take a look at all the sights! I would say go to the coloured earth place (i forgotten what its called now) but the last time i went there it got way too touristy and there are loads of fences blocking your way so you can't have a good look around. The time when i went there previous to that it was better because you could see all the different coloured earths and take them away in a bottle. Port Louis is also a place to go and see, especially the waterfront. Also have a taste of the local cakes aswell, you won't regret it!
