I'm also travelling to Thailand alone in Feb. I'll be spending time in Bangkok, Koh Samui & Koh Phangan, although most of my time will be spent in Koh Phangan as I'm also only on a two week holiday. I'm pretty nervous about going out there alone, but I've been told it's pretty safe for a girl travelling alone and meeting people won't be a problem. Deciding on accomodation isn't easy, but the Sea Breeze bungalows sounds pretty decent...close enough to the action, but set apart enough for a little peace. Give me a shout if you fancy meeting up!

Once you are in BKK, you are going to meet plenty of girls traveling alone as well. Very easy to link up with another single female or several girls going the same place you are. Relax and have a great time.

Im a single female traveller and have been travelling through Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia and now back in Thailand (Koh Pha Ngan) for the past 4 mths, Ive not felt scared apart from Hanoi in Vietnam where I had my own Vietnamese moto stalker....but I left the city and the rest of the time has been awesome.

I dunno what dangers you've heard of - but the worst thing that can happen here is that you fall asleep at a party and get yourself robbed. So in order for that not to happen you dont take valuables out at night with you.

As for accomm. there is loads but the prices have gone up due to the Full Moon creeping up. But I would look into getting accomm booked before you arrive as its filling up rapidly with tourists, more and more arrive daily.

You could be looking to pay between 400 -1500 baht for accomm. obviously depending where you go. Thong Sala is not that far from Haat Rin, approx 50 baht taxi ride away, so if you dont want to stay in the thick of partyland its very accessible. Im staying on a stretch of beach between Thong Sala and Baan Tai, and have so far found it to be a good area. Nice beaches, and here I have a pool and a load of westerners keen to party - so sharing taxi's is cheap.

Its hard not to bump into westerners may end up searching for a quiet spot to get away from it all!!!
