Hmmm, hard one: not in any particular order...

  1. 1 Sunday Afternoon - The Kinks

  2. 2 Easy - Faith No More

  3. 3 Where Is My Mind - The Pixies

  4. 4 Road To Nowhere - Talking Heads

  5. 5 No Rain - Blind Melon

(Or course theres a few songs that just remind me or travelling: Like a Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan, Road Trippin' - Red Hot Chili Peppers, Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac, Riders On the Storm - The Doors.... etc.)

Best 5 songs, man this is hard.

The Cure- Pictures of you
Pearl Jam- Daughter
The Arcade Fire- Wake up
U2- I really can't decicde from way too many tracks
Dog eat dog- Who's the king

Yep i think that will keep me going.

I think the songs I chose would have to be ones that either remind me of all my friends back home or ones that don't let me forget I'm Australian (or ones that do both), so...

1# Half a World Away - Oasis
2# In My Life - The Beatles
3# Home is Where the Heart Is - John Butler Trio
4# Never Had So Much Fun - Frenzal Rhomb
5# Every City - Paul Kelly

An eclectic mix, but these songs have got me through most travels.

Ooh good question. For me I think it would be:

Keane - Somewhere only we know
Massive Attack - Teardrop
Debussy - Claire de Lune
Coldplay - Fix You
Ram Trilogy - System Error Y2K

I dont take music with me when I travel, but bye the typical music at the place where I am.
Sitting at a market place in Peru or Ecuador watching the colorfull dressed indios and hear the fluit, that gives me the feeling for the country.

not that I dont like the songs you mansioned,I dont like to hear them while I travel,I like them before, while I'm busy preparing for my trip.

I want to hear some happy songs, when I travel (esp. on a plane). M top 5,6,7,8,9 in a random order:

Cat Empire - Hello
Di Grine Kuzine - Sarkarpatia
Gogol Bordello - Start wearing purple
Kermit the frog - It's not easy being green
Joey Ramone - What a wonderful world
La Buena Vida - S.O.S.
Pigbag - Papa's got a brand new pigbag
Goran Bregovic - Hop, hop, hop.
La Shica - Zingararapera

and normaly I would download some of my new discoveries, on my mpeg3player, at this moment that would be: Poet in process.

Limiting myself to 5 songs is tough however here goes :-
On the road again(Canned Heat)
Reason to Believe(Bruce Springsteen)
Hypnotized (Fleetwood Mac)
Up around the Bend(Creedence Clearwater Revival)
Travellin Man (Lynyrd Skynyrd)

I could easily name five more but... ;)

In no particular order:
King of the road - Roger Miller
On the road again - Willie Nelson
Ramblin Man - Allman Brothers
America - Yes
Sweet Baby James - James Taylor

Second 5

Me & Bobby McGhee - Janis Joplin
Everybodys Talkin - Harry Nilsson
500 miles - PP & M
I've been everywhere - Johny Cash
Hotel California - Eagles

Any of these can get in your head and are easy, except for "Ive been everywhere, to sing and/or play.
