when i went from athens to rome - it took 3 hours on a bus to patras - and then 20 hours on the ferry - and then i think it was about 4 hours to rome from ancona in italy to rome!

dunno about the stop in corfu tho!

If you are taking the ferry - and have enough money - GET A ROOM - ughh - i had to sleep in the airline style seats - HORRIBLE worst nights sleep i EVER had! but it was FUN!

Have fun - i had a BLAST

Dear GJ,

Last year I went to the Olympic Games in Athens. Travelled from an to the Netherlands to Greece by train and boat.

The train to Bari (Italy) was very nice but took a long time and nobody spoke english in the train wich was not very nice. In Bari there is a good bus wich brings you in about 5 minutes to the harbour. The Ferry leaves about 18:00 the harbour and is next day around 12:00 in Patras. Yes, I've slept on the deck and it was very nice. Ofcourse this can depent on the other passengers. My pictures you can see on my website :

On my way back I went by train to Patras and by boat to Ancona. The boat trip was also very nice but with less nice people on board. You arrive at Ancona but not close to the station, there is a station called Ancona Maritime but most trains leave at Ancona Central. Pictures of this travel you can see on :

Timetables of trains in Italy you can find on the internet
Timestables of the boat depend on the ferry you take. You can see for example Super Fast Ferries website with all info.

Enjoy your trip !
