I have heard of an alternative inca trail that is quite new. It doesn't end up in machu pichu, but in a new set of ruins that they discovered some ten years ago called Choquequirao. The cool thing is that these are bigger than machu pichu and only 40% is uncovered from the forest. You walk there in 2 days and then you can sleep with your tent in the ruins!!! iv been told it is much cheaper but can anyone recommend it from first hand expereience? is it better than the real trail?
cheers
