Hi there,

I have found travelling in Europe very easy, and i had not planned to visit america at all until now. I have a friend in New York city whom i would love to go and see, and i hear seeing Niagra Falls is quite easy from here. I also want to travel to puebla(Mexico)to visit my cousin and i'm unsure about the slow boat to the Dom republic to see some more friends. Does anyone know anything about the slow boat??
I am thinking of going in May, is this a good time to travel around these places etc. I know i have alot of research to do before i make this trip, any suggestions would be very helpful !!!

thanks gardenia :)

Do not know of any "slow boat" from Mexico to Dominican any rate along with US & Canada, Mexico is part of North America and you had best go on to that forum..if there are any boats you may find one by searching

may is the perfect month to be in nyc. april-early may is best. in general spring and fall on the east are amazing, but winters and summers suck. niagara falls is nice, but not very close to nyc (a day by bus i think), and there are many other beautiful places to see that are closer to ny. boston is a nice city to visit (4 hours by car), southern maine (3 hours from boston), vermont (same), MONTREAL (6 hours from boston, 8 from nyc) -- beautiful and closer than niagara falls.
i´ve heard greyhound does a special (like the eurorail pass) but only for non-us citizens, so that might be good to look into. greyhound works in canada, but not much in mexico.
it's hard to tell until you go, but mexico is very very far from ny, and it itself is HUGE. to take a bus from ny to puebla could take a week, for example. maybe more. buses are much nicer in mexico than in the states, and much cheaper, too.
about your trip to d.r, i´m not sure, but i am trying to go from mexico-belize to venezuela through the caribbean, and it doesn't appear to be easy or cheap.... i may be missing something tho --- any advice for me?
good luck with everything, hope you enjoy your trip.

Often flying into and out of Cancun* is cheaper than flying into and out of Mexico City (Mexico City Airport has very high landing fees due to the well the smog this time of year is terrible) from Cancun you can easily bus to the Yucatan or Belize, an English speaking Central American country, as well Veracruz, Oaxaca, Puebla States south of Mexico City worth a visit. Buses to those points to and from Mexico City every half hour or so from the big TAPO terminal. Mexico Guide online

  • Sky Auction

http://www.skyauction.comThe company claims to be the leading auction
site for travel-related purchases. It basically buys and sells deeply
discounted airline tickets, hotel rooms and vacation packages directly,
with no middleman. This gives you an advantage in that you always know
whom you’re dealing with. The site offers 10 categories of auctions,
ranging from holiday travel to trips to Asia and Australia. It also offers
a slew of deals you can buy outright without bidding. How good are the
prices? Bidding often starts at $1.* This company specializes in full vacation
packages typically lasting five to seven days. The site makes it easy
to find what you’re looking for by listing its packages in the
categories of adventure, beach, cruises, family, gaming, golf, international,
skiing and weekend getaways.Bidding here, too, can start at $1. You can
also find bargains that let you skip the bidding process. This week’s
featured vacation deal, for example, is four nights in the Bahamas, for
two people, for $239. Yes, it includes airfare from nine major cities in
the US.

Again.....* Priceline This is the famous
reverse auction site for cheap airfares. Basically, you plug in
where you are, and where you want to go and when. Then you list how
much you’re willing to pay for the ticket. The software then scours its
inventory of deals for one that matches. If you get a hit, you do the
deal right then and there.I’ve heard raves about this site, although I
have spoken with people who have had trouble finding a match. That usually
means your price is too low. In general, try to find the best deal you
can on the Internet, drop the price by 20 percent or so, and plug it
into Priceline. Chances are you could be pleasantly surprised.Hope this
helps you to bring down the cost of your next vacation
