in May this year, a friend and i will be flying back out to Thailand! we are hoping to go south down to Malaysia, poss Singapore, then back up to Thailand and across to Cambodia, through Vietnam and up into China, then hoping to Get back though via Laos and end up in Thailand, for our return journey back home in November!

how possible is this trip? and are the boarder crossing's easy into Maylaysia, vietnam and China?

I travelled in2 laos and cambodia via Thailand last year so i am aware of these borader crossings!

any help or advice would be greatful

I have only travelled Thailand, Laos and Cambodia, but I am pretty sure you can cross all the boarders by bus and it shouldn't be a problem, flying may be easier but it will cost you. I wouldn't worry just go for it.

Hi Katie,

you will have no problem at the thai-malaysia border crossing at bukit kayu hitam (if you are travelling by bus), or at padang besar (if you are travelling by train), or even at the golok side...
as for the border crossing between thailand and cambodia at poipet, get to it by 8am to avoid long queues...good idea if you overnight at aranyaprathet...or you can head for trat down south for crossing into cambodia, have fun at koh chang,etc, and head for PP...(maybe from here you want to fan out to siem reap,etc...anyway, from PP to Vietnam, you will have no problem at the Bavet-Moc Bai border crossing...and get an open bus ticket (you can drop off along the route and get back when you feel like it) while you find your way up north to hanoi...and from here, the border crossing is just as fine into china...well, when you are done with china ( i suppose you are keeping your trip to southern area, places like, lijang, chengdu, kuming), you can enter laos via Mohan-Boten into Luang Namtha and move down south and exit back into thailand at friendship bridge, or even at chong mek (that is if you want to visit siphadon!).

Have fun.

I am thinking to do the next TRIP PLAN and route;

-- Thailand /6 days/(Bkk - Chieng Mai)
-- Laos /5 days/(any sugestion??)
-- Cambodia /7 days/(??Phnon Penh-Shihanoukville-Siem Reap??)
-- Thailand (Bkk)

Could you help me about the borders, sugest routes or any interesting information about places to visit,accommodation..?
It´s worth to visit Vietnam instead other locations?
