Wakeup hostel has a side bar-pretty good for a chilled out evening, scubar is around the corner, seems pretty good there tho i didnt stay long but have heard its suppose to be real good and the locals go there.. Ive heard that you should go to the harbour and kings cross for some great nightlife-hopefully i'll be sampling some of this, this time round!

Pick up a copy of 3D World (dance/r&b), Drum Media (rock) or Brag (bit of both): they're free from most music shops and newsagents, and have a gig guide in them. Spraci ( and Faster Louder ( have upcoming gigs and regular nights listed as well.

If you're here in Feb, maybe take a look at the Good Vibrations Festival ( There's also the Great Escape over Easter (

Hope that helps!

Yes if you are into club scenes then Sublime @ Home is a good place to start..It's true that it is a little pricy, but you will meet a bunch of "happy" people that are willing to chat and give you advice on where else to go in Sydney

I also like, for house music, and a good diverse crowd: The Chinese Laundry (sat nights at the Slip inn) I always have a good night there and they usually have good international and local DJ's. (its only $10 before 10pm)

A copy of 3D Mag - for nightclubs/dance scene and a copy of Drum Mag-for bands and live gigs will go a long way...

If you are interested in Jazz music there is a great little club called the Basement that offers live music and great acts... (but can be also a little pricy)

If you are into live bands and rock kind of music I would suggest that you go to Annandale Hotel or the Empire (up the road from Annandale Hotel) these two places offer cheap beer and entry fes and have some great live music.

Also around that area is a pub called Clarence. It has a small theatre at the back that has some really funny comedy acts (its only about $5.00 for entry - and its comedy acts are on one of the weekdays, I think maybe thursday?)

hope you enjoy your time in Sydney
