I want to start looking at a hostel or cheap hotel to stay in Singapore when we first arrive. It will be our first night away from home so I need to be organised. I have looked in the accommodation part of TP but the thing is - I have no idea in what part of town I should be looking. We want to be close to somewhere that has some nightlife so we can go meet people and have a good night out. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks, Vic.

Last time i was there I stayed in a hostel called "Cosy Corner" or something. its right next to Bugis Junction, which a big shopping centre with an MRT station(the excellent singapore underground system) There are loads of restaurants around.

However, in all the guidebooks there is a hostel called Waffles Homestay, and I am certain from the map and description it is the same place and has just changed its name to Cosy Corner.

Although I don't really know what Singapore has to offer for nightlife.

hihi, I believe I can help abit on this. Yap... when you've arrived at the Changi Airport, look for the underground train at T2, and take the train to Bugis MRT station. Once you've reached, the underground will link to a shopping centre called Parco Bugis, ask for directions if you must at this point, for Ah Chew Hotel or you can simply ask where the place that sells three dollar chicken rice. Once you are given the correct direction, cross the small road (pls be careful as there are no traffic lights) and cosy corner is on your right corner.

On the left corner, there is a Can Can cafe, which you can chill out. Night life in Singapore can be great if you know how to enjoy.
You may want to check out clarke quay (ministry of sound- clubbing place). Singapore's hotspot are mostly along the MRT lines, so you dont have to worry you'll get lost. At most, just flag down a cab, they are quite afforable. :)

And of coz if you need any help on Singapore I'll be glad to help out. I just came back from Melbourne, and I can safely say that Singapore wont get any confusing as Melbourne (as a tourist)

hi

Another place to check out is the Prince of Wales, located at Dunlop street in the heart of Little India. I think beds go for $10 and there's a pub below where most backpackers hang out.

Hope this helps :)
