Does anyone know if the area called Garcia is an okay or safe area of Barcelona? My hotel is just one block from Diagonal in the area call Garcia and just want to make sure this is a safe neighborhood for day or night?

A few years ago I stayed in that area. I though it was ok, location is very central. Just use a bit of common sense, as you'd do in any city. But as I said, it was some years ago, so I'm not sure about nowadays.

Enjoy Barcelona, it's a fantastic city.

Gracia is a safe area and well worth a visit. It is a neighborhood that prides itself on being very independent of the rest of Barcelona (metro: Fontana). I had a very inexpensive Greek dinner at one of the many restaurants surrounding Placa del Sol. The people were very friendly and it struck me that maybe tourists don't bother to explore this northern district of Barcelona. A new placa in Gracia was designed for children and named in honor of John Lennon (calle Mila Fontanals & calle Siracusa).

You don't have to worry about that area. Gracia is a safe neighbourhood, although you have always and everywhere, keep an eye on everything, just in case!

Gracia is a nice and safe area, don't worry! At night you can find many interesting and cultural places to go for a drink..
