Hey All.

Can someone recommend a nice hostel in both La Paz and Santa Cruz for me? I will be there in April

Best.

Brian

I didn't manage Santa Cruz, but in La Paz 'El Solario' was pretty good. Clean dorm rooms (even if the decor was a little over Che poster-ed!), reliably warm showers (important at La Paz altitude) and very cheap internet. It also has a travel agent kind of attached, which makes booking things like the Death Road mountain biking very easy - and I don't think they overcharge for that sort of service either.

We paid twenty bolivianos a night, although breakfast wasn't included. I've just read a thread hinting that maybe excessive advertising isn't allowed in this forum (I should read the rules again) but there is a great cafe called 'Pepe's' very close by serving real coffee in the mornings.

Hope this helps - and sorry about the lack of Santa Cruz information.

Brian,

In La Paz, read up on Hostal Republica. I really liked it, though I don't think it was the cheapest option. That said, it's probably only a difference of a buck or two, so if you're not super tight on budget, it's worth a look.
