Hi, Could anyone help me by letting me know the best way to call the UK from South American countries? Am I better off buying phone cards there, or getting cards such as the Millennium card on the internet before I go? Cheers Ali

i´m in south america at the moment and the cheapest by a long way to call UK is on the internet. log onto skype and it costs about a penny a minute to any land line in the world as far as i can tell. you do have to pay using your card over the net but it is paypal so is as safe as you can get on the net. if not that then the best way is hable mass (not sure of the spelling) phone cards. they seem the cheapest way not using the internet but some places dont accept cards.

hope that helps

If you aren't planning on calling the UK alot, then you might just be fine going to the public phone stores and calling from there (not sure exactly what they are called). basically, though, there are stores which allow you to place international calls and charge you a rate. When I was down there, I only phoned back to Canada about once a month (mostly sent emails). The phone places worked okay for that.
