Hi, I know I have posted a similar question on the rtw forum but I wanted to cover all bases and get as much info as I could.

I am about to start a rtw trip next month in India (thats not too bad) after that I go to China in June, Japan in July then Thailand, Loas, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia and Indonesia for about 4/5 months ending up in OZ in December, after that NZ, Fiji and USA.

The later half of the trip works out ok but for most of the rest it I hit the rainy season. I have read quite a few books/websites etc and talked to a few people but I seem to get conflicting reports. Some say it isn't too bad, it rains for a few hours a day but it is stil bearable, but others say it is really bad with unbearable humidity, mosquitos, leeches and days and days of rain.

I dont expect to be lying on beaches everyday, I quite like the idea of a few days chilling out in cafes etc and reading sometimes but I dont want to be wet through in unbearable heat for five months fighting insects!

Can anyone that has been there during these periods give me any advice or information please. I am getting quite desperate as I need to book in the next few days and might change my direction rtw if need be. I dont really want to do this for various reasons but could if necessary.

thank you very much for any help

Tropical seasons: dry & rainy. Here in theory rainy season comes October - April, and dry season April - October. But lately it sometimes doesn't really follow the theory. (Global warming effect?)

If you're going to spend some days in a small island, near the sea, rainy season will be pretty much uncomfortable, because there will probably thunder storm and the sea waves will be high. But in bigger islands when it's raining you might not be able to go out when it's heavy rain and windy. But sometimes the rain comes only for a few minutes.

Which part of Indonesia are you going to?
