..ok so its not that bad, just need some advice please!
I am 22 next week and have decided that I have got to go travelling. Ive put it off for so long, due to work, ex girlfriend etc. But now the time cannot be better.
I lived in crete last summer for 10 weeks, which is the only travelling experience(if you can call it that!) I have other than holidays.
The thing is, to put it bluntley, I dont know where to start!
Do the majority of people just buy a round the world ticket? Or do they get a flight to Australia and work their way back? How thourough do people plan their trip? or do they just go with the flow of things?
You see I really dont have an idea!lol
Basically just need a helping hand to get me on my way. Just someone to tell me the basics, how to get started. Before I put it off again!
Any advice would be most appreciated!
Thanks
Greg

Start wherever you want to start, and do it in whatever way best suits you, but just go! What do you want to see? How long do you want to go for? Do you want to work? You'll have an easy time of it finding work in Australia if you want to work your way around there. I was just there and found work without a working holiday visa. Check out round the world tickets if you want the best deal on a multi destination trip. I used a ticket like this from airbrokers, but thats based in the US so I'm not sure what is similar from Europe. I just got back from a few month trip around the world, which was amazing, and entirely too short. If you don't feel the need to plan it all out, don't, and even if you do, don't. Taking life as it comes is much of the fun! Don't worry about knowing all the details. Enjoy and best wishes

First think about how much time & money you have & what kind of places you've always wanted to go to.
Most people tend to go (on their first trip) to Australia & NZ, because there are loads of backpackers, so you get too meet lots of people, plus they're both westernised, English speaking countries which gently eases first time travellers. The problem is it can be quite expensive to get there & costs are more compared to Asia or South America.
SE Asia is another place that's popular for travelling too. Can be a culture shock for some first time travellers. Thailand is generally a first stop in Asia & generally people get the bug to go further into Asia.
Good luck!
