Hey Everyone - I will be traveling to Sydney May 20th. I am planning a quick 3 day trip up to Cairns around May 24th. Any suggestions on fun places to see? I definitely plan to go snorkeling - but I will be traveling alone (something I have never done before) so I want to get as much info before I leave as possible. Any help/suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!

Well,

In my opinion cannot really do that trip worthy of it's name in 3 days! There's so much to see and so much to do...and it's quite a long trip as well! Well, if you're going to do something, I'd recommend going to Fraser Island.

Another possible 3 day trip is just taking the plane to Cairns and going on 1 or 2 day diving trip. You don't have time to do very much more than that...

Good luck!

Just to echo the other reply, 'quick trip' is a laugh when travelling round Oz.
It's a huge place and I don't think you really get it until you've been here and try to get from one place to another. You can fly from Sydney to Cairns but 3 days doesn't really give you enough time to see hardly anything!
The Greyhound gives you a chance to see the landscape and stop off at different places on the way but for example I left Cairns April 3rd and only just arrived in Sydney 28th April ! I didn't even stop at half the places most people do! As I said it's a huge place.......
You will be able to go out to the reef, but you'll probably not have time to see Port Douglas (4 mile beach) Cape Tribulation and many gorgeous spots on the way.
Ah well, at least it gives you an excuse to HAVE to come back!
Good luck.
