i think Juliet06`s suggestion of booking the ticket now is a great idea and thn just go with what money u have. i have travelled with both too much and not enough cash (it depend on where u go) and some how i always have enough - whn the money runs out it is a sign to go home,or to a cheaper country, usually u always find a way to make the money stretch until u have done what you needed to do.
Saving woes...

Definately it gives you something definate to work toward though it depends how far in advance you wish to book many airlines dont let you book over a year in advance.

That is so true!
I had the same problem as you but I did as the others suggested set up another account that you have to go into the branch and transfer a certain amount each week into that account.
Before no time I had saved heaps!
My girlfriend and I went and opened up another account at a different bank and every pay day the first thing we do is go down and put close to $500 in it. That way we can't spend that money and we never really felt like we had it to begin with. This is the only way to save that I've ever found to work for me.
From sitting on my hands and only going out on the VERY cheap I managed to save good, but as it was i didnt spend it all, so came back with cash in my pocket which is a goooood feeling.
But saying that I managed to pay for 3 extra internal flights that werent on the cards, I also had two helicopter flights in New Zealand - oh yes!!!!! Ah the memories of that.... something I will have me forever, oh and seeing the dolphins live at sea....All because I saved good and hard.
That it...why dont you go and visit all the people on this site who have BEEN and have come back - read their stories of what they acheived - what they could afford, and realise the only way to make your dream a reality is to save a bit of cash!
It seems that you all have been having a really good time with this traveling. I will be soon traveling but at wholesale prices. I can pay wholesale price one time and have access to 25vacations + 5 cruises. I can't wait to get started. The first place is going to be paris.
Absolutely cut back on your personal spending habits!!! It will pay off in the long run, when you are on your holiday.
Great advice already been given, especially about opening up a savings account that is separate from your everyday account. Find an account with a high interest, and let that build up.
Imagine all the fun and adventures waiting for you on your travels.
