I'm a 21 year old female from NZ. I'm hoping to go to vancouver next year (2005) to visit relatives and meet some new friends. I would like to know what can you do in vancouver?

Can anyone tell me more about working in canada or offer me any tips?

Hey NZ,
After years of losing friends to NZ for the eternal winter and the seasonal continuations of what goodness we have in BC, I can tell you that anything that you are into in NZ is available here.
Vancouver is an amazing natural city where there are plenty of good jobs for those willing to find them. There are too many outdoor activities to even mention, and this is all within Vancouver. 20min outside Van and you are in total isolation.
It entirely depends on what you are into, but I know a few Kiwis who are now immigrants here going between BC and NZ and loving every minute of nature they can find.
Good Luck,

Hey nz21,

I would suggest for working in Canada that you go the legal route and get a Working Holliday Visa. You have probably met Canadians in New Zealand doing the same where you are from. Well, it goes both ways. You apply to our government for the visa (there will be a few requirements) and then you come over, find a place to live, get a Socail Insurance Number (SIN#) from the government, open up a bank account, and you're ready to go!

As it has already been said, there are tonnes of things to do in Van City, as well as in the surrounding suburbs and areas. You won't get bored, I can just about promise you that. What are you interested in doing?
