Hey guys! My boyfriend and I will be travelling for about 2-weeks along the east coast of Australia. I'm hoping you guys can offer some advice on where to go, where to stay, and what to do. As of now, we plan on checking out Cairns, Whitsundays, Airlie Beach, Fraser Island, Byron Bay, Sydney, and Melbourne. Are there any other cities along the east coast that we MUST SEE? Also, does anyone know of hostels to stay at that are clean and safe but affordable? I've done some research online and these places have been recommended:

Cairns Calyspso Backpackers, Caravella Backpackers
Townsville Civic Guesthouse Backpackers Inn
Whitsundays ?
Airlie Beach Bush Village Boutique Backpackers, Backpackers by the Bay
Harvey Bay/Fraser Island Colonial Log Cabins, Friendly Hostel, Fraser Roving
Byron Bay Aquarius Backpackers, Art Factory Lodge
Melbourne Urban Central, Clarement Guesthouse, Greenhouse, Nunnery, Base Backpacker

We're in our early 20s and we're down to do some crazy outdoor stuff! Any recommendations on things to do, places to eat? Thanks to anyone who can provide any sort of helpful information!!!

Not coming to my stellar home town of Brisbane??! Cant' blame you acutally.... Not a whole lot to do.

But at least check out some of the sunshine or gold coast. sure the main tourist areas (noosa and surfers paradise respectively) might be a little commercial for some tastes, there are still incredible places out on the fringes of the tourist trail.

Two weeks is not very long at all for how much ground you want to cover. It is an eight hour drive from Sydnry to Melbourne, so maybe get a map and check it out. You would spend A LOT of time in the car. And Melbourne and Sydney each need at least 4 days each. At least. Myy advicwe: Prioritise where you want to go, and focus on that.

I agree 2 weeks is not long and I assume you are driving?. Also, it does depend on what time of year you are coming. If it's our Winter/Spring, I would concentrate on North Queensland - but include Fraser Island. Fly into Cairns, drive to & fly out of Brisbane.
