I am in the U.S. and am planning a trip to Norway with the intention of visiting The Island of Hugla to see where my grandfather and family lived. To try and learn more about my Viking side. If anyone has any information on what would be the best airport to fly into and city to stay in it would be greatly appreciated.Keep in mind that I don't speak any Norwegian. In addition if anyone knows how I can locate more records on my family it would be greatly appreciated.

Velkommen til Norge Barbara! (as in welcome to nooorwaaay!)

How exiting that you are looking for your roots in Norway - that is fantastic!! Im a Norwegian girl that will be very happy to help you on your way to Norway. To first say something about Hugla - its an island placed in the most beautiful part of Norway.

Whats fantabules is that there is something called the Costal steamer, check it out on www.hurtigruten.no that will take you from different cities and up to Nesna, the closest "city" to Hugla. The north of Norway is defenetly worth seeing - its stunning, and if you have time you really should get all the way up to Tromsø. When it comes to what city to fly in to, I guess Oslo will be cheapest, and from there you can fly inland Norway with the air company Norwegian, on www.norwegian.no , its super cheap and will get you to the bigger cities like Bergen or Trondheim. Both of those cities have piers that the costal steamer stops, and from there will take you to Nesna.

But there is so many amazing oppertunities! I will give you my email in a msg, so you can ask me whatever you want about Norway. Have travelled alot myself, both inside and outside Norway - so please email me whenever you want, about whatever!

Lots and lots luv from Norway, Anne
