This being an international website - different members use different terms for things. I find that I am using some of these terms and the longer I hang out here, the more I collect. For example - I now use "shite", "pub", "cheers", and a few others... I'm curious - what words/expressions from other places have sneaked into your vocabulary since posting on TP????

Shite?? What terrible language, go off and wash out your mouth with soap!!! I can't really say, as I usually don't know the origin of expressions and just use them. Have to keep reminding me that Irish is not the universal accent worldwide...

Lest not to forget some SwissIrishman teaching me "feck"... (I never used words like that before in my life. Look what you've done - corrupted a little old lady!!) Careful now...

Haha I started to use shite I'm not sure if I have picked up others.

I started to use Cheers when I first joined (from Peter and a few others), then Ni!!! (from Pardus) and DANG! (from tweetina).

And guess what? A friend of mine actually picked up DANG! from me.

Not sure about from TP, but from travelling generally I unfortunately now finish rather too many sentences with eh?

I'm also a bit prone to saying 'Wicked'. I think that came from New Zealand.

Oh - dang is a good word. Have I started a new trend??? Pretty soon the whole world will be saying 'dang' and eating cookies for breakfast!

I think speak more Beermani now, actually. It's a good conversation opener. "Hallo, I am being the Tina. How is your being doing on this day of all fine things?"

Well, you have met him in person so you know how to do the inflections correctly! Plus, that green cape and pink WonderChestWigBra just look great on you!!! I think you may be starting another trend!

I also forgot that I now use "cheeky" and (thanks to Jase) "mare" every so often. "Oi" is working it's way in too. Oh, and thanks to Phil (again) - "nutters" works well for several things.

Good thread. I've been told by people I have a Canadian "accent". I have no idea what that means. It's interesting to hear how people have picked up "new" lingo. Stuff I've been saying for years.

buggers.....
no biggies....

I tend to pick up all kinds of little sayings from people I know.
