We're going to be there for three days. Any suggestions as to where to go? What about good day trips from there?

You should definitly see the grand place, Manneke Pis, the gallery's, the Atomium. Check these sites.

Other, even more beautiful and must-see cities are Brugge and Ghent (this is my favourite!)
They're only 30/45min with the train from Brussels.

If you get here between the 15th and the 24th of july, then you should go to the 'Gentse feesten', festivities throughout the city during 10 days! I'm going every year, twice, even more.....really great, amazing!
Have fun in our little but beautiful Belgium!

With the exception of Grand-Place and the narrow streets nearby, sightseeing in Brussels is relatively crowd free. Brussels offers a remarkable choice of some 90 museums, some tiny and some international in scale. All museums have bilingual labelling (French and Dutch/Flemish). English is not always used but English-language leaflets are usually available. In recent years, signposting (for drivers and pedestrians) of Brussels' top museums and major monuments has been improved, making sightseeing even easier.

Take a day trip to Brugges! It's absolutely beautiful and I can honestly say that I've only heard praise about the place. It's a short train ride that's well worth it.

Apart from Brugge and Ghent, try also ANVERS, on the north, in the way to Amsterdam. This city is also gorgeous!!!!

And if you have time, I would also go to Amsterdam. I went to Brussels this winter, and took a day trip to Amasterdam, and it was the best of my whole trip!!!!!
