the ferry boat goes every hour. but, didn't know when the lastest boat leaves Macau. I remember 
there is a ferry boat going in 8pm. so, good luck!!

I have famliy in HongKong. I usually stay with them when I go to HongKong.
but, my Canadian friend used to stay in Kowloon one hostel that she booked in the website. she told me it is very inexpensive. I can not remember the name of it. but, look for the hostel in Kowloon that they are cheapper for sure.

Head to the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR stop in Kowloon; the Mirador Mansions block there has a lot of budget guesthouses, hotels and hostels. I stayed in a dorm for $60HK, but if you're with a kid and want a room, they definitely had those too (and you can bargain them down by about ten dollars a night if you're staying longer than two).
I was on the 13th Floor with New Garden Hostel; they were really friendly and a fairly clean - I would recommend them but I know there are many more in the same block.
