I just wanted to know has anyone ever stayed at KYOTO GARDEN HOTEL or TOMIYA RYOKAN HOTEL KYOTO? My sister and i will be travelling to Japan in the near future and i want to stay at a place thats close to Kyoto station but not too expensive and safe (my sis is only 14 and i 20), the hotels i mention are recommended on the net but i would love to hear from anyone thats actually stayed at them. Or if anyone know of a hotel or apartment with a kitchen that i could rent for about 15,000 yen p/night i like to know.

Try K's House in Kyoto (about 5 minutes from the station). It's safe, fun and has a great kitchen and facilities. You and your sister can get a private room for about $60 a night. I stayed there earlier in the month and was thrilled with it.

Hope that helps.

Hey thanks for the tip i checked out K'S House and it looks great, just what im looking for and the price is excellent. Ive just 1 question though does it get very noisy? Being a backpackers hostel i suppose that it could get pretty loud at times.
But again thanks for the tip we will definetly be staying there.;)

I stayed at K's House last year and would definitley recommend it to anyone, I very much doubt there is a better hostel in Kyoto if not Japan! It's within easy walking distance of the station and is really clean and friendly with great facilities. It wasn't at all noisy when I was staying and there were a couple of familes staying as well as the usual backpackers. Ed
