Hi there,

Anyone out there stayed in cheap but decent accommodation in the heart of NYC that you could reccommend for me? I have a ticket for the US OPEN Mens Final in September, got them through a promotional deal through Amex. However I have not arranged accommodation and through looking on the internet most seem expensive.

Cheers LPG

Hopethis helps a little.

I always have my guests either find something on Craigslist or priceline a hotel. Always works out great.

See if you can get the WhiteHouse Hotel of NY. They are the best deal in NYC - a mix between a hostel and a hotel. They book up quick, so check soon. You might want to check out Hotel 31 or Portland Square Hotel. They'll probably run you about a hundred a night, but maybe more during the open. All those are in Manhattan, and you can take the subway to the US Open site in Flushing. (Directions by Subway to US Open

You might also want to look at staying on Long Island. The Port Washington branch of the Long Island Railroad stops at the Tennis center. Getting to US Open by LIRR - check the cities along the route and see if you can find a hotel cheaper than in NYC.

Finally, you could stay in New Jersey, taking NJ Transit into the city and then the MTA (subway) out to the Tennis Center.
