Hi! I'm new to this forum and am planning a trip to England this July/August to sing in Canterbury (with a stop-off in London of course). I'm a Kindergarten teacher and I've been in grad school for the past 3 years so this is my first real vacation in a long time and I'm on a tight budget. I love to travel and have visited the Philippines, Germany, the Mexican "Riviera" and Canada in the past (as well as several US states). I dream of visiting so many great countries in the future and am already saving for a trip to Greece and Italy next summer. Ideally, I would LOVE to go to Japan, Senegal and Chile someday.

I collect instruments from around the world for use in my classroom. My prize possessions are bagpipes, a Chinese flute, a bodhrain (?) from Ireland and a very strange instrument from Nepal. I can play "Mary Had a Little Lamb" on almost all of them but that's about it. I think that music is one of the unique elements of culture. If anyone has any great, distinctive musical artists from their countries, please let me know!

welcome anyway

Welcome to TP Rebecca!!

This is definitely the place to find travel info and some well-seasoned travellers.

Bagpipes, eh? Hmmmm, I'll have to try to re-create that sound with one of our cats......

Hey Rebecca!

Welcome to TP!!

After Beerman practices the bagpipes with the cats, he can go on to practice his guitar, ukelele and steel drums. Oh, and maybe a little "chopsticks" on the piano. (Though, I think he's more of a "Heart & Soul" kind of guy!)

(ps: I know Beerman personally - I'm married to him!) ;)

Welcome Rebecka,
don't you have any photos of your strange instruments that you can upload? Would be interesting to see what they look like! I'm a music freak too but except from playing the recorder (not very unusual) I mostly stick to singing.

Hope you'll like it here!!!
