I am most likely to visit Chennai mid July for business, and was thinking of taking time out afterwards to visit the area. Last time I did this, I toured the east coast, right down to the bottom, then back to Chennai. This time, I was thinking of finding some diving. I looked at the Andamans and other sites, but soon discovered that July is not a good time to go diving, and that the diving is pretty limited anyway.

So, was thinking of going to visit Kerala. I want to spend most time visiting the countryside and checking out the wildlife. I enjoy temples, but overdosed on them during my last visit.

I was thinking of taking a 7 to 14 days tour. Has anyone been on any and can recommend any?

hi Hj,

I have not been on a fully guided tour as such ... but i can tell u a few places in Kerala which are really nice...

if you are nature loving, hiking/trkking kind of person , u shd visit Tekkady / munar ... take a boat ride in the back waters ( most of them start from alappey or kumarakom) ...theres a bird snactuary by name parambikulam which is very picturesque and u can get guides to take u on trails... parambikulam is on the TN-Kerala border, and on the TN side is top-slip... but u might require advance guest house reservations for the same....

You could also do a lakshadweep cruise... the beaches are beautiful - but not sure if it offers diving and the likes....

hope this helped...

neeraja is spot on ... on the places to visit in kerala...cochin/munnar tea gardens/tekkady/periyar sanctuary/kovalam/alleppey/kumarakom

laksadweep are an awesome group of islands..suggest you visit it..tourists are permitted only on 2 of the 36 islands...

And you can dive there too..but the best time is November to May...

june- august is usually monsoon season so i don't think it would be safe/allowed..

attaching a link..that might help

have a great time.

Hi HJ,

Your choice of visiting kerala is good but iam afraid that it would be raining still in July. But Kerala in rainy season looks very beautiful too...everywhere green and green and more green.
untill end Aug is kind of a off season for tourits.

Places you can visit in Keral are:
-Trivandrum (you can take a train or a flight from Chennai)
also Kovalam and varkal beaches. nice a place..a beautiful hill station.

--alleppey..houseboat stay, canal cruise..

---Cochin..a nice city...oldest jews syngogue..
a trip to Munnar..quite beautiful hillstation.

In each place you can stay as many days as you will be so refreshing among the green environments.
